YOGA RESEARCH IN FUNCTION OF MAN

One of the main activities of the Yoga Federation of Macedonia is scientific research of yoga techniques aimed at health promotion and improvement of quality of life. A Scientific and Research Board operates within the Yoga Federation whose obligations and activities gradually shape into a scientific institution. The collaboration with many medical and other institutions, as well as the continuous participation at international conferences and congresses in Macedonia and abroad demonstrate the seriousness of our approach in this area.

The first research dates back to the beginning of the 1980’s. It was conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Medical, Experimental and Applied Physiology with Anthropology at the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje. Excellent results were obtained concerning the effect of yoga techniques on the physiological functions of the yoga practitioners, but at that time they remained unpublished. Similar research, with positive results, was conducted at the Institute for Mental Health in Skopje on the changes of bio-electro brainwaves during meditative techniques.
